Bikkies
The Australians love to make up short forms for everything. Sunglasses are "sunnies", car registration is "rego", a smoke break is a "smoko".
At work, I've heard that they put out "bikkies" with tea. The translation is that they put out biscuits (what we could call cookies) with tea. So, I've joined in and started helping myself to the odd bikkie here and there.
I've yet to try a Tim-Tam, which is like Australian equivalent of an Oreo - it's a highly prized bikkie. I've been told that you have to move "bloody fast" to get a Tim-Tam.
I've been busy with other things, but I'm on the prowl, and I will report back.
