March Madness

For March Break, we had Joely and Lucy's cousins Mac and Aiden down for several days. It was a real blast. Lots of busy, fun-packed days, with hikes, trips to Dundurn Castle, bowling, ice cream, swimming, movies....and tired sleepy nights! I took the week off work to be part of it all, and to just chill after a hectic few weeks (months?!).

On the last day before leaving, we took the kids for a walk nearby, and there were a lot of fallen branches on the ground. Wheels in young minds began turning rapidly, and before I knew it, I was pack-muling a heap of said branches back to our house where they were to be used in the fabrication of a shelter.

Everybody pitched in, more or less (!), and I contributed a screw or two...


After the busy construction period, the tribe banded together to paint a flag bearing the tribal name: MALJ (Mac, Aiden, Joely, Lucy)


Finally, it was time to raise the great structure:


After Mac & Aiden left, we had many fond memories, punctuated by the structure in our yard. It lasted for about a day, until a gust of wind blew it down. Fortunately it was not occupied at the time.
