Hook, Line, and Sinker
Joely has been asking about going fishing for a long time now. Back in Dundas, every time we'd walk over a bridge, Joely would as if we could try to catch a fish. Recently on a visit with my parents, I hit up Grampy for some tackle and rental of a rod and reel so I could take my girl fishing.
Every fall, the salmon run up the Sydenham river in Owen Sound. I took Joely to a place on the river I used to fish when I was a teenager (behind the YMCA, for any Owen Sound locals reading). The fish are pretty much further up the river (off-limits) at this point in time, so we didn't get much action. However, it was a total blast. I'd cast out, she'd reel in. We snagged a few lures (Grampy is now short one AC Shiner), watched a few ducks paddle by, and chatted with some of the other anglers.
I plan to get a few rods and some tackle when we get to Perth.
