Happy Australia Day

Friday the 26th was Australia Day here, which is a lot like Canada day back home. That is, everything shuts down, people break out the flags, drink too much, and then let off lots of fireworks.

The fireworks in Perth are a pretty big show. We were able to just catch a glimpse of them from the end of our street ( it was a glimpse only because of the local topography), and that is just over 10 km away as the crow flies. We didn't take the kids out, but probably will give it a go next year. Here's a shot from last year's celebration:
