Another Arch Bites The Dust
I've seen more roaches in Australia in four months than I have in a lifetime in Canada. I think it's a warm weather thing. It's not like they're in our house or anything, but I see them at night when I'm out for a run, we saw them at a McDonald's outdoor play land (they were more interested in the fry-bits, not so much in the playing), etc.
They don't bother me so much; recall it's the spiders that freak me out.
However, I don't exactly want to roll out the welcome mat for them either. To keep them out of our house, every few weeks I walk around the perimeter and spray a "barrier" around the doors and windows - I hate using the insecticide, but I don't want them crawling on my food either.
Sure enough, in the following days we find the odd roach around the outside in the classic "dead roach" pose - flipped over on the back, legs curled in. Joely used to find them and call them crickets. A few days ago, we talked about how these insects are called "roaches". I specifically remember calling them "roaches".
Joely now calls them "arches". It's Very Cute.
Today when I was out getting my motorcycle ready for the ride to work, she was out with me to wave goodbye, and I heard, "Daddy - come look!".
I went over to where she was standing and pointing.
"It's a dead arch!"
I grinned all the way to work.
