Nan's 80th

We had a surprise 80th birthday party for my nan (my mom's mom). Nan is truly an inspiration - many of you who know me may have heard the many anecdotes about her vitality and zest for life. This is the lady who still tramps through the field at the farm during haying season, who cross-country skis (and one time fell a few kilometers into the trail, broke her wrist, got up, skied back to her car, and drove herself to the hospital), etc.

It was truly a memorable evening, full of laughter, stories, and family. All of us hid behind a curtain in the restaurant where the party was held while accomplices led the unsuspecting Nan to her table. Then, the great-grandkids emerged from behind the curtain with flowers to surprise her. It was a fantastic moment. Here we see the mustering of the Flower Brigade:
