Dolphins, Part The Second
Because the Littles couldn't go swimming with the dolphins, the rest of us decided to go out on a dolphin watching cruise. The trip was put in jeopardy by the puke-fest of a few nights ago, and little Joely was still battling the bug. However, she was bound and determined to go, and although she spent a good deal of the cruise cashed out, she did wake up in the latter period when the dolphin action was fast and furious:

Our skipper was the typical laid-back WA character; here he demonstrates his unique driving style which consists of him standing on the driver's seat so that his head is out of a roof-hatch, and manipulating the steering and throttle with his feet. He does this both when putting about and when flying across the water flat out!

Here some locals out fishing are caught in the act of committing a no-no. Feeding the dolphins like this teaches them to beg, increases human injury rates from bites, and increases dolphin injury rates from things like propeller strikes.

Here's Mac and Joely riding up at the bow...

And here's what they were looking at - the dolphins like to "bow ride", darting, rolling, and diving underneath and alongside the boat:

Back on land, we caught this cheeky group of Corellas (a local cockatoo-like bird) hogging the drinking fountain:
