F That

It's funny to watch kids' language skills grow and develop. Often for me the most charming aspect of it all is the uniqueness of the little disfluencies that each kid has. For example, Joely still pronounces "breakfast" as break-stast. And rather than saying "whenever", she says ever-when.

So far, one of Lucy's endearing language quirks is to use the letter F as a replacement for many others. A few examples:

Ice Cream is pronounced Eye Feem.

Swap is pronounced Fwap.

And Truck is pronounced...well - as Fuck. And a big one is a Biiiiig Fuck (with the "big" drawn out and voiced in a growl for emphasis). It's pretty funny - especially so when we're out with other people in earshot and she sees one!
